Justin Lewis first picked up the cello at the age of three. Taking the lead from his mother and grandmother who were both cellists, Lewis quickly took a liking to the instrument and gave his first public recital at age six.
Lewis is recently completed his doctoral coursework in cello performance at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He rhas soloed with the Central Pennsylvania Symphony and the Penn State Philharmonic with the Dvorak Cello Concerto in B Minor. Lewis has toured Europe, South America, the Middle East, the Caribbean and throughout the United States with various ensembles such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchester, the Festival Juvenile de las Americas and the United States Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants.
Lewis graduated from the Penn State School of Music with a masters degree in cello performance. Previously, he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelors degree in cello performance from Temple University's Boyer College of Music in Philadelphia. He has recorded on the Centaur Label where he studied with Jeffrey Solow, Orlando Cole and the Philadelphia Orchestra's Kathryn Picht-Read.
